Homeschooling May 2013 Part 3

We went out to lunch for Mother's Day. I was happy to choose Olive Garden. Great place and great food.
Desk Work
Spanish: The Vowels (Las Vocales)
"a" as in apple
"e" as in egg
"i" as in igloo
"o" an in orange
"u" as in the sound "ooooo" that a monkey says
Cuántos años tienes tú? (How old are you?)
Practical Life: Cutting with a knife
This is a safe knife that I ordered from the Pampered Chef. It has a rounded tip
and the teeth are wider, so it still cuts, but it's safer to use. K does great using it.
Practicing Spanish (The Vowels)
We learned them along with sign language.
He is saying "U" here.
Desk Work

Montessori Mathematics: Number Rods and Tiles
Put Number Rods in order from 1-10
I put the Number Rods out of order and K put them back in order from 1-10.
Putting them back in order.
Montessori Science (Geography): Land, Water, Air
We sorted several pictures of animals and insects depending on where
they "live."  I know birds and butterflies technically don't LIVE in AIR,
but they fly and it's easier to explain to him that they can fly
and they spend time up in the air, whereas other animals can't.
Land, Water and Air lesson, but with means of transportation.
English: Land, Water, Air
Spanish: Tierra, Agua, Aire
Chinese: Di, Shui, Qi
