Inspiration...

Montessori Science: Astronomy

Today, we watched how NASA was testing some of their equipment on the military
post we live in! It was pretty nice to watch and know that they were that close to us!
I wish we could've seen it in person, but honestly, it was way too early, way too hot
and there are way to many drop zones around here to know exactly which one they
would be at. So, we watched it all in the comfort of our home. It was awesome!

Bible: Scripture Memory

Play Time

Did I ever mention that baby girl loves to dress up, just like her brother? She especially likes the Transformers Bumblebee outfit. She plays the part, too, when she's wearing it.
It's hilarious and adorable at the same time.

Desk Work

K, aka Ironman, is doing awesome at tracing letters and numbers. 

He is extremely interested in doing that and he becomes engrossed (as in focused) in it. 

He gets better and better every day.

K is now reading level 2 (2nd grade) and even level 3 (3rd grade) very well. He reads anything, really, but he loves reading about superheroes. HIs reading comprehension is through the roof. He is able to recount what he has read, but the biggest proof that he is understanding what he reads is that he changes voices, enunciation and even giggles when something funny is happening in the story. It's awesome!

This is so cute. K was trying to write an "s," but it ended up looking like a 3. Then he made a smaller 3 and said, "Upper case three, lower case three." Haha.
This is how K is writing his name now. it is way more legible than it used to be even two weeks ago.

Bible: God Made Water

We headed outside and started playing with sponges and water and were singing songs about God making water, rivers, oceans, lakes, etc. We played at the water table, and even wrote and stamped "water" on construction paper. They drew oceans and water as well. 

Later that day, we went out to the Splash Pad and  spoke about God creating water.

Desk Work

More tracing letter and numbers and reading about superheroes.

Side Note

K woke up with pink eye one day. I immediately called my neighbor and asked her to give me some breast milk to put in his eye. It worked! 

I am so grateful for wonderful natural remedies and for generous neighbors that don't think I'm crazy when I have such odd requests.

of the opportunity to reinforce the colors. Green. Purple.

Animal Sounds and Textures

Art: Gustav Klimt (vegetable stamps)

Today we learned a teeny bit about Gustav Klimt and his paintings, which have lots of geometric shapes and patterns. Specifically, we looked at The Kiss, The Tree of Life, and Fullfillment, so nothing risque. For the project, we used potato, carrot, and celery stamps to make our own patterns, and the kids really got into it.

Teachable Moments: Counting in Many Languages

Today, we were putting together several batches of the dry ingredients I use for our homemade pancakes (click here for recipe). As I added the cups of unbromated flour and coconut flour, we counted in Spanish for one jar, in Chinese for another jar, in German for the third jar and in Portuguese for the last jar. It was lots of fun.

Another day, we did the same thing, but we were counting to ten as he got legos picked up and put in the bag. We counted to ten in Spanish, Chinese, Italian, German, Portuguese, and French.

Below, you will see pictures of one of our homeschooling days this week. We played, got a new bottle (old Italian wine bottle) for our homemade almond milk (click here for recipe), dressed up, traced letters, and played some more. What a perfect way to end our homeschooling month of June! And now, we will take a 2-week break. See you again in mid-July!
