Salt Dough Recipe

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup warm water

 How to:
1. Make sure the flour and salt are sifted.
2. Mix flour and salt well.
3. Add warm water slowly as you mix.
    Make sure it isn't too dry or too sticky.
    If it's too dry, it will crack in the oven.
    If it is too sticky, it won't bake well or hold its shape.
    Add extra water or flour as needed.

Baking:
OPTION A
1. Turn oven on to 200 degrees.
2. Put works of art on oven-safe cookie sheets.
3. Bake for 3 hours.

OPTION B
1. Put works of art on microwave-safe plates or platters.
2. Microwave for 2 minutes. 
3. Check them. If they look done, you're done!
    If they aren't ready, zap for 30 seconds at a time until they are done.
    It shouldn't take more than 4 minutes.

Decorating:
The sky is the limit!
You can use tempera paint, permanent markers, fabric markers, fabric paint, ink, glitter and glue, stickers, whatever!

Storage:
If you didn't use it all up, you can always put it in a zipper plastic bag and double bag it, making sure all the air is out. It should hold for a few weeks. If it starts to get sticky, just add more flour.

One thing I didn't try, but would love to next time is to add a drop or two of essential oils at the back of each ornament. It's a nice and thoughtful gesture if given as gifts.
