Homeschooling December 2013 Part 2

Pumpkin Cookies! 

This recipe is so delicious! I have made it several times and it has been a hit every single time. What I have noticed is that if you leave them in the oven a couple of minutes after they are golden brown, they will be crispier and if you take them out right before they are golden brown, they are soft and spongy. I like them softer, but other have liked them crunchier better.

Classical Conversations!!!

This is how we did Classical Conversations today. We snuggled up in his sleeping bag bed and hung out. It was fun and comfy and very productive.

Science Experiments: All about Penguins

We learned about penguins in Science. We learned that they spend half their life on land and the other half in water, they eat fish and other small sea creatures, we waddled like penguins, hokey pokey like a penguin, and danced like penguins. 

                              

Art: Salt Dough Ornaments

Yesterday in Art we painted our salt dough shapes and ornaments. We even painted our hands and made handprints on the table covering (with permission of course!). It was fun, and really cool to see how the kids combined colors. To see the recipe to make salt dough, click here.

Music: New Songs! 

Today was learning new songs and signs day! We practiced two new tunes for Friday's get together, along with reviewing our note tree and the timepiece song. And of course, we started class off with a classic rendition of Happy Birthday for K!
